Trainings are free to paid members; non-members are welcomed to attend for an additional $10 fee per training. All meetings will be held at Sammy’s Pizza, 103 West First St. and begin promptly at 6:30, with trainings to follow at 7, unless otherwise noted***. Dinner is optional and at your expense. February 4, 2010 7-9 p.m. Storytelling and Flannel Boards
Presented by Lisa Brown, Early Childhood Instructor at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College

Core Content Area I: Child Growth & Development
CDA Content Area VIII: Principles of Child Growth & Development
Workshop participants will have the opportunity to learn about the magic of storytelling and the use of flannel boards to help children develop skills in literacy. Participants will learn new stories and have the opportunity to create a flannel board story.

Multiple intelligences is an education theory put forth by psychologist Howard Tardner. Our discussion will include an introduction to Gardner’s theory and the eight intelligences he identifies. Then we will explore how we can support the challenges and diversity of thinking and being children bring us each and every day.
